Bretby Crematorium is set in attractive woodland grounds adjacent to the A511 Leicester to Burton upon Trent road between Burton and Swadlincote. It provides a peaceful haven for quiet contemplation and remembrance.
There are two chapels, each with a separate waiting area and covered floral tribute area. The grounds are maintained as natural woodland, with no plaques, memorial stones or rose beds. Each year a memorial carol service is held at which family and friends may gather to remember their loved ones. Christmas wreaths are displayed in the floral court between mid-November and the end of January.
The Book of Remembrance is the main form of memorial at Bretby. Each memorial is beautifully inscribed by a calligrapher, and the Book remains on display in a purpose-built chapel throughout the year. A digital copy of the Book resides within the chapel, and there is also an online Book of Remembrance which can be accessed at any time.
The grounds and Book of Remembrance are open every day of the year, with staff always available to show people round and provide advice.
