Central England Co-op Head of Funeralcare re-elected to NAFD Board for second term

Kevin Crute, Head of Central England Co-operative Funeralcare, has been re-elected to the executive of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD).

Following his election last year, Kevin has been supporting the NAFD for the benefit of members, while at the same time being instrumental in steering the Funeralcare business for Central England Co-op.

He said: “The funeral industry is one that people generally don’t think about until they need it, and my aim with the role at the NAFD and with Central England Co-op is to make sure that when someone in need is looking at a funeral, they will always be treated with the utmost respect and care.

“We all carry out life-changing work, supporting people in the most difficult of circumstances and this provides us with a privileged opportunity to enhance memories and love in the communities we serve.

“It is a fundamental belief of mine that we in the funeral profession should do everything possible to ensure that the arrangements and ceremony focus solely on the memories and love families have for those they have lost.

“To be re-elected to the NAFD executive means that I can still be involved in supporting the NAFD through a period of significant change in the funeral profession.”

Kevin currently oversees 800 colleagues across 133 Funeral Homes, 10 Florists, a masonry business, a coffin factory and a crematorium in Derbyshire. Central England Co-op covers 16 counties across the Midlands to East Anglia.

Established in 1905, the NAFD represents the interests of the entire spectrum of funeral directing businesses – including independent businesses, the Co-operative and major funeral groups – who conduct in excess of 80% of UK funerals every year.
