Central England Co-operative celebrate official opening of new funeral home in Leicester

Dozens of special guests were on hand to mark the opening of a new and innovative funeral home in Leicester.

Staff were on hand at Central England Co-operative’s Glenfield Funeral Home to host an open day and oversee a special dedication ceremony at the site in Tournament Road.

The new home is the first in the Society to include a raft of new features designed to create a homely environment for families.

The design of the home has been specially arranged to be open plan so that someone is always on hand to greet families when they walk through the door.

A new colour scheme has been introduced and the bathrooms and other building facilities have been revamped to be state of the art.

One of the biggest innovations is the installation of special lighting in one of the remembrance rooms. This now means that when families come to visit their loved one the experience can be completely tailored to their needs and the atmosphere they want created.

Funeral director Pam Sheppard and her team were joined by local clergy, councillors and members of the public to mark the occasion.

The event featured a service marking the opening of the new home followed by a guided tour of the premises for all attendees and refreshments.

Pam said: "Our first priority is to enhance memories and love for all of our families and we are very pleased to offer that at Glenfield Funeral Home. We feel it reflects our commitment to providing excellent standards of care for our families during their time of bereavement.

"We would like to thank the clergy for leading the dedication service and coming along to officially open the site. We all appreciate the time they have put aside out of their busy schedules to help us mark this occasion.

“Our guests had a tour of the funeral home and saw the range of options we offer which allow families to arrange a funeral reflecting the life and interests of their loved one."

Central England Co-operative Funeralcare Glenfield offers a 24-hour service, seven days a week.  In addition to arranging funerals, Pam and her team are also able to offer advice on floral tributes, monumental masonry, funeral stationery, pre-paid funeral plans and probate advice.  The team can be contacted on 0116 232 2373.
