Central England Co-operative has spent over £1,600,000 opening two new food stores and revamping two more in Derbyshire – with 100 lucky shoppers walking away with an array of prizes as part of a special golden ticket away.

The major investment in the county has resulted in new stores opening in Main Street, Horsley Woodhouse, and Southchurch Drive, Inkersall, offering a wide range of products and services to meet the needs of local residents.

On the same day the ribbon was cut following major revamps of stores in Grangewood Road, Chesterfield, and Alfreton Road, Little Eaton, which has seen the installation of the latest in pioneering new energy efficient refrigeration technologies to minimise environmental impact and LED lighting.

To mark the opening of the new stores in Horsley Woodhouse and Inkersall, hundreds of customers queued outside to take part in the special golden ticket giveaway and walked away with everything from a 50” TV and a coffee machine to Co-operative gift vouchers and Irresistible Fairtrade chocolate bars.

Dean Marshall scooped the television after unwrapping his golden ticket at Horsley Woodhouse, with Adele Lound walking away with the top prize in Inkersall.

Gary Bonsall, Inkersall Central England Co-operative Store Manager, said:  “Our team were so excited to finally allow our members and customers to see our new store.”

Horsley Woodhouse Central England Co-operative Store Manager Paul Robinson said: “The store looks fantastic and already customers have been making many positive comments about how it looks and the different products and services now available.”

Tracey Hawkins, Grangewood Road Store Manager, said: ““I’d like to take this opportunity to thank customers for their patience during the revamp. We hope everyone will enjoy the store as much as we do.”

Alfreton Road Co-operative Store Manager Sue Johnson said:  “All of us here at Alfreton Road Co-operative food store are proud to be part of such a great community in Little Eaton and are looking forward to welcoming customers, new and old, to come and enjoy our food store.”

All four stores will be open from 7am – 10pm every day and offer a wide range of products from everyday necessities to something a little more special.

The stores offer includes fresh and local fruit and vegetables, an in-store bakery offering breads and pastries, chilled beers and wines, fresh and frozen product,
Irresistible product ranges, Bake and Bite and a selection of food to go.

They also offer Paypoint, Collect Plus, foreign currency, a free car park and a free cash machine.
