CENTRAL ENGLAND CO-OPERATIVE SUPPORTS MACMILLAN WORLD’S BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING IN LEICESTERSHIRE

Central England Co-operative Funeralcare will be serving up coffee and cake across Leicestershire to raise money as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Colleagues from 18 funeral homes across the county will be opening their doors to the public on Friday 30th September to play their part in supporting the annual flagship fundraiser.

Every year people from across the country gather together to have a catch up, a cuppa and a slice of cake while helping to support the event, which collected £27.5 million in 2015.

A total of 86 events and activities are being held across the Central England Co-operative trading region to raise funds for Macmillan.

Kevin Crute, Head of Funeral at Central England Co-operative, said: “Holding a coffee morning is an excellent opportunity for us to meet the local community as well as raise funds for a very deserving cause.  Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the refreshments.”

The first official World’s Biggest Coffee Morning took place in 1991 and has gone on to be the biggest fundraising event of its kind, raising over £165 million for people affected by cancer.

A spokesman for Macmillan Cancer Support said: “"We are thrilled that Central England Co-operative has chosen to be part of the Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

“The enthusiasm and generosity of our coffee morning hosts never ceases to amaze us.”

“Central England Co-operative’s support is needed more than ever and this is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious while raising money to support people affected by cancer.
