Customer demand sees Central England Co-op put mince pies on sale as Christmas approaches

Central England Co-op has started stocking mince pies in its stores after being inundated with requests by customers for the festive snack.

The retailer, which has over 200 stores spread across 16 counties, normally doesn’t stock the treats until the end of September but its shop staff, customer service centre and social media channels had so many enquiries that they are now on sale for people to enjoy.

With just over 100 days left until Christmas Day shoppers can stock up on the butter enriched pastry, zesty, spiced Co-op deep filled mince pies for just £1.

Shoppers will also be able to enjoy a range of Irresistible mince pieces from £2 to Free From mince pies from £1.99.

Kevin Morris, Store Manager at Central England Co-op, said: “This year more than ever we have noticed lots of people asking when mince pies were going to be heading onto the shelves.

“So, after the number of requests began to rise, we decided to give people what they wanted to and put them on sale early.

“I have no doubt that mince pies and anything else Christmas related will fly off the shelves now that it is available.

“While not everyone will want to start thinking about the festive season yet, for those that do we have a great range ready in our stores.”
