Colleagues, members and customers enjoyed a free health check at part of a special day-long wellbeing event in Belper.

Nearly 50 people took part in a free body MOT at the Belper Central England Co-operative store, in Strutt Street and received information on blood pressure, heart rate/weight & body mass index, body fat, peak flow and CVD risk assessment.

Hundreds of shoppers also received quality advice on health and wellbeing.

It formed part of a wellbeing event organised by Community Movers – an Amber Valley Borough Council scheme which offers support to help individuals take the first steps towards an active and healthy lifestyle.

Kevin Tromans, Belper Co-op Store Manager, said: “Health and wellbeing is really important and we as a Society are always looking for opportunities to support our colleagues, members and customers along the way.

“We are very grateful for the support from the whole team, who have been fantastic at providing quality information and support to our colleagues, members and customers and I am delighted to have been involved with this initiative.”

Members of Central England Co-operative’s Membership and Community Council were also on hand to offer healthy food options and to talk about the benefits of membership.

The Co-operative Wellbeing Day at Belper Central England Co-operative was also supported by Core Victim support services, Derbyshire Healthwatch, Citizens Advice, Stroke Association and Alzheimer’s society, Adult Care, Hearing Help, Sight Support Derbyshire, Amber Trust (P3), Trent PTS, Strictly no Falling and C4TCT and the Air Ambulance.
