New community cafe in Clifton Campville handed vital funding boost

A new project to launch a new community coffee shop in Clifton Campville has been awarded a funding boost from Central England Co-op.
A wide range of groups, organisations and charities were handed grants, with a total of £43,000 handed out to 40 good causes across 16 counties.
Clifton Campville Village Hall has been awarded £770 to support the launch of a new community coffee shop.
The venture, which will be staffed by volunteers, is aimed at putting an end to social isolation in the rural area and will serve hot drinks and food.
Sue Wadham, member of the Village Hall Management Committee, said: “This is wonderful news for the Clifton Campville Community Coffee Shop.
“Our village, delightful in many ways, nevertheless has no shop, place of entertainment and now no bus service.
“The coffee shop – entirely run by volunteers – offers a much-needed opportunity to socialise with others every Monday morning.
“Come rain or shine open all year round, including bank holidays, it brings together many who may otherwise be lonely and at risk of social isolation.
“The money from the Community Dividend Fund will go towards the set up costs and the purchase of additional equipment.”
Grants of between £100 and £5,000 are handed out every three months to a wide range of applicants.
The fund guarantees that at least one per cent of the Society’s trading profit is reinvested in local communities in a bid to help projects to thrive across its trading area of 16 counties from the Midlands to the east coast.
