A community food store in Leicestershire where colleagues have been going above and beyond to support locals during these uncertain times has been given a fresh new look following an investment of £38,000.

The Central England Co-op in Main Street, Newbold Verdon has received a raft of updates to give it a fresher, lighter feel and to include a number of new ranges and features to boost its offering to the local community.

This follows the store’s colleagues working around the clock to ensure vulnerable people across the community have continued to have access to vital food and essentials through the Coronavirus pandemic.

The refreshed store front includes brand new external signage to give it a more modern, fresher look.

The community food store has been undergoing a makeover in recent weeks with changes including:

  • An updated product range to better reflect customers’ requirements
  • New features such as a Costa Coffee machine
  • New internal signage and decoration including refreshed kiosk area

Store Manager Michelle Ward said: “After a challenging year it is a real boost for the team to see the transformation. I would really like to thank the community for their patience while the work has been carried out. We have been putting the new back into our Newbold Verdon store and I hope they like the changes as much as we do.

“The feedback we have had so far, particularly to the new external sign, has been really positive and inside the store looks more modern and refreshed and has a much better flow for our customers.”

The Newbold Verdon Food Store is open every day Monday to Sunday 7am-10pm.

The store has a wide range of products from everyday necessities to something a little more special and also offers a lifesaving defibrillator, cash machine, Collect Plus/Paypoint, car park, Lottery and an instore bakery.
