A Norfolk food store has shown its appreciation to lifesaving NHS heroes on the frontline during the Coronavirus pandemic with a special doughnut donation for hospital workers to enjoy.

Store colleagues at the Central England Co-op in The Street, Brundall were keen to give workers at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital a small token of appreciation for the incredible work they are doing for the community in these uncertain times.

Therefore, the team led by Store Manager Mandy Duruk decided to donate 130 bags of doughnuts to the Colney Lane hospital to be shared out among workers to give them a treat during their shift.

Mandy said: “The hospital is only about 15 minutes away and everyone at the store and in the community here is so appreciative of what the hospital is doing on the frontline, so we thought we would look to treat them.

“We spoke to the hospital’s head of fundraising and she said they would be happy to accept the donation, so we went along and dropped them off and they were going to be shared out between teams across the hospital.,

“They were really chuffed and thanked us for everything that we are doing as well which was really nice.

“The community here in Brundall have been brilliant through all this. It has been a big change for everyone, but we have all really come together, and we are proud to be doing our bit.”

Central England Co-op is currently offering a 10% discount for all NHS workers to say thank you for their efforts working on the frontline to help tackle the Coronavirus.

All NHS workers have to do is show their ID card when they visit any of the retailer’s 242 food stores to receive 10% off all food and other essentials.

They will also be able to get priority access to Central England Co-op stores by moving to the front of any external queue when waiting to enter.
