Over £1,000 worth of food collected in just one day during festive food bank drive in Leicester

Generous members of the public donated over £1,000 worth of items in just one day during a festive food bank drive in Leicester.

The event was organised by Central England Co-operative Clarendon Park Road Food Store and Membership and Community Council members in partnership with Action Homeless as part of the Clarendon Park Christmas Fair.

People donated a range of items included 35 litres of milk, 200 eggs, 30 boxes of mince pies, 10kg of chocolate, 40 jars of coffee, 30 boxes of tea and much more.

Tanya Noon, Member and Community Relations Officer, said: “I would like to thank everyone who went along to the event and donated to the festive food bank drive.

“The generosity has been overwhelming and will help so many people during the festive season.

“This event was a great success and I would like to thank all of the Food Store staff and volunteers who ensured this great donation was possible.”
