Popular Christmas campaign allows families to remember a love one and help raise money for charity

Central England Co-operative is launching its annual Christmas campaign to help families remember lost loved ones during the festive season.

The Society is today launching its ‘Star for a Star’ initiative in a bid to allow families, who wish to remember a loved one, to place a star, with their own personalised message, on a Christmas tree for a charitable donation.

All money raised goes to local charities and people can take part in the initiative by picking up a star from their nearest Central England Co-operative Funeralcare Home.

Head of Funeral for Central England Co-operative Kevin Crute said: “Star for a Star is a great way of remembering loved ones who have passed away and at the same time helping to raise money for good causes in our local communities.

“We are honoured to be taking part in Star for a Star. Christmas can be a difficult time for families who have lost a loved one and it is a privilege to be able to support them at this special time.”

The initiative is also going digital to allow families to place their tributes online.

Lost loved ones can be remembered by Tweeting a message and using #mycoopstar.

Messages will then appear in the ‘Star for a Star’ memory gallery on the Central England Co-operative website at centralengland.coop/funeral/star
