A special event is set to take place to showcase how Central England Co-operative supports the community in Burton.

The Society, which has several stores across the town, is hosting the Get to know your Co-op event in March to try and shine a light on how it can support community groups and organisations in the area.

The free meet and greet will also involve organisations which partner with Central England Co-op such as Age UK Burton and a chance to network with everyone in attendance.

James Knight, Member and Community Relations Officer, was the man who came up with the idea and will be leading the event on the day.

He said: “The whole idea is based around showcasing to the communities we serve across Burton what we are doing and can do for them.

“We offer support to community groups and organisations in several different ways and this event is a perfect way to showcase that to anyone who is interested.

“We are also delighted that many of our partners will be in attendance to talk about how we work together to enhance the lives of people across Burton.

“We would urge anyone to come along, learn about Central England Co-operative and find out more about how we can help them.”

The event will take place from 10am to 1pm on Friday, 17 March at Burton Albion Football Club, in Princess Way.

Entry is free and people can register their interest by visiting https://www.eventbrite.com/e/get-to-know-your-co-op-tickets-31282403511
