Staff at the Old Great North Road food store, have organised a day full of activities, competitions and delicious food on Saturday 5 November, to boost fundraising for the Society’s corporate charity Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.

The day will include stalls selling cakes, a lucky dip for the children, face painting, a raffle, Christmas food tastings, a Bonfire Night colouring competition and the community is urged to get involved with the stores best ‘Guy Fawkes’ competition!

If you would like to take part in the ‘Best Guy’ competition, you can bring your ‘Guy Fawkes’ to the food store before the event or on the day.

Two colleagues have worked at the food store since it opened 25 years ago. Julie Pullen and Sue Chandler have seen the food store change over the years, but emphasis that the food store has always been a community orientated store.

Julie Pullen commented: “I enjoy working with some great colleagues; the work I do and I know that St Neots food store is a great place to work.”

Sue Chandler commented: “I have really enjoyed working with many colleagues and serving so many customers over the years. The Society has provided some great opportunities for me to progress into my current role as Team Leader.”

Chris Wright, Store Manager at Central England Co-operative St Neots food store, commented: We have planned a fantastic community event to mark our 25th Year Anniversary and I am looking forward to judging the ‘Best Guy’ competition.
“Please join us on Saturday 5 November, 10am – 3pm, as we celebrate our 25th Year Anniversary.”

Newlife Head of Community Fundraising Nora Smith commented: “The team at the Central England Co-operative food store in St Neots have been hugely supportive of our charity partnership, helping to provide vital equipment for disabled and terminally ill children in Cambridgeshire. Newlife is also marking its 25th anniversary this year and we wish the St Neots team well for their community fundraiser this weekend.”

Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children is dedicated to providing guidance and practical support for children with disabilities and their families, and although Newlife is a national charity, every penny raised by Central England Co-operative is helping children in the Society’s trading area. So far, the partnership has raised £1.2million and helped fund specialist disability equipment for more than 530 children.
