Three projects in the West Midlands are celebrating after sharing £1,700 in the latest payout from Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund.

A wide range of groups, organisations and charities were handed grants, with a total of £42,000 handed out to 36 good causes across 16 counties.

A total of £500 will be used by Better Understanding of Dementia for Sandwell (BUDS) to support people and their families impacted by dementia.

Alison Pugh, director of BUDS, said: “I am we have been awarded a grant of £500 from the Community Dividend Fund.

“We will use the grant to fund a variety of refreshments for clients who attend our groups.  The grant will enable us at Christmas time to provide some extra special items.  I thank Central England Co-op for supporting our services for people diagnosed with dementia and for having the community at the heart of this support.”

Court Oak Road Allotments, in Quinton, will now have a brand new shed thanks to a £550 grant.

Youngsters at Boldmore Falcons Football Club will soon be taking to the pitch in a brand new kit following a grant of £650.

Kingstanding Food Store Manager Chris Dutton said: “We are delighted that these great projects and good causes have been handed a grant for the fantastic work they do in the community.

“Community Dividend Fund grants like this showcase how being a member and continuing to support Central England Co-op helps us as a Society continue to invest and fund vital projects in the local area.”

Grants of between £100 and £5,000 are handed out every three months to a wide range of applicants.

The fund guarantees that at least one per cent of the Society’s trading profit is reinvested in local communities in a bid to help projects to thrive across its trading area of 16 counties from the Midlands to the east coast.
