A TV expert who helps people deal with scam mail is set to share her expertise with a Derby group launched to offer friendship to those who have lost a loved one.

Marilyn Baldwin, regularly seen on the likes of Crimewatch and Rip Off Britain, will be heading to Allestree Funeral Home to talk and advise the Forget Me Not group on how to avoid postal scams, telephone and doorstep crime.

The group was launched to bring people together from similar walks of life who have lost someone, to talk about their loss but also to socialise and create lasting friendships.

Funeral Director Maureen Hill said: “It is a major coup to get someone like Marilyn to come along to our event.

“Forget Me Not is not just a bereavement group. It is something more. It allows people who have experienced similar things to come together and speak about their grief if they want to, but also to talk about anything else ranging from subjects such as decorating and Christmas all while enjoying tea and a biscuit.

“It is an informal group that anyone can come along to. It is also the kind of group where you can come as and when you need it. We will always be here for those that need us.

“I think the group has helped make a difference for all those who have been coming along and I am proud of being able to give something back to those who are going through difficult periods in their lives.
“We look forward to hearing what Marilyn has to say and welcoming new members at the same time.”

The Forget Me Not project was initially launched in Sinfin last year and it has been such a success that several others are now up and running in Derbyshire and across the country.

The event with Marilyn will take place on Thursday, 16 November at The Red Cow, St Edmunds Close, Allestree, and more details can be found by calling 01332 550033.
