Udderly brilliant competition winner in Derbyshire gets to design own ice cream

A lucky Central England Co-operative customer is in ice cream heaven after being picked to create her very own flavour thanks to The Cowhouse Dairy.
Lisa O’Hara, from Chesterfield, saw off competition from 1,450 other people across Derbyshire to win a competition to come up with a brand new recipe for locally sourced dairy ice cream called ‘Udder Stuff’.
Her winning flavour was black forest gateaux and she stopped off at The Cowhouse Dairy, in Belper, to see her creation come to life and to try it for the first time.
She said: “I was ecstatic once I found out that I had won and was able to have my dream ice cream made for real by Cowhouse Dairy.
“I love the fact that the ice cream is made right here in Derbyshire, with only the best ingredients and is available to buy in Central England Co-operative Food Stores in the area.”
Lisa also won a hamper of products, £25 worth of co-operative gift vouchers and three litres of her very own ice cream.
The new flavour will join a varied choice of ice cream to suit all taste buds, from delicious mandarin & ginger to the classic vanilla, available in selected Central England Co-operative.
Malcolm Sutton, Owner of The Cowhouse Dairy, said: “We are very happy that Lisa and her black forest gateaux suggestion won the competition and that the flavour is now part of the Udder Stuff family.
“As a local farmer and producer I am proud to offer free range dairy ice cream from cows that enjoy the freedom to graze on our 600 acre farm.
“Our ice creams are made in small batches by dedicated staff, have no additives and are made with all natural ingredients: whole milk, cream, eggs, sugar and natural flavourings. An additional attribute of the ice cream is it is also naturally high in Omega 3.

The Cowhouse Dairy is run by the Sutton Family who have lived on the Chatsworth Estate, in Derbyshire, for over 100 years. Udder Stuff ice cream is made from milk and cream from the Sutton’s own herd of award winning Holstein-Friesian cows that graze on the rolling green pastures of the Chatsworth Estate at Shottle, near
Belper.
The link-up with Cowhouse Dairy reinforces Central England Co-operative’s aim of supporting local producers and communities by offering a wide range of great quality foods.
