Collection of Details for NHS Test and Trace

This document explains how information about you will be used temporarily by Central England Cooperative during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, as requested by the Government in support of NHS Test and Trace.

Central England Cooperative are the data controller which means we decide how your personal data is used and why. Our family of businesses includes food stores and petrol filling stations, funeral homes, florists and investment properties.

Personal data we collect and use

When you visit some of our premises e.g. cafés, crematorium or when we are making the arrangements for you to visit someone else’s premises e.g. during a funeral, we will collect the following personal data:

  • your name and
  • contact telephone number;

along with the date and time of your arrival and departure.

This is voluntary and you do not have to provide this information.

How we use your personal data

Although we may have your contact details already the Covid-19 pandemic has created additional reasons for us to collect your name and contact telephone numbers, in order to support NHS Test and Trace.

This is specifically in relation to contact tracing, which is the process of identifying, assessing, and managing people who have been exposed to a disease to prevent onward transmission and the investigation of local outbreaks. 

Lawful Basis

Our legitimate reason for processing your data is to assist with NHS Test and Trace in relation to the coronavirus public health epidemic.

Who we share your personal data with

Personal data that is collected will be used only to share with NHS Test and Trace if requested. It will not be used for other purposes outside of those specified in this privacy notice.

How long we keep your personal data

Your personal data will be retained only for the purposes stated in this privacy notice and will be held by us for no more 21 days.

All personal data will be held and disposed of in a safe and secure manner.

Your rights

You can ask use to stop using your personal data at any time after giving us your details by letting us know you no longer want us to keep or share your personal data for the purpose of Test and Trace.  However, once we have given your details to Test and Trace, we will no longer be able to prevent processing.

Where we process personal data

Your personal data will not be transferred or processed outside the European Union.
