Central Co-op Launches Membership App for All Members

Today Central Co-op has launched its Membership App on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, meaning Members can link their Membership to the App, while new Members can pay £1 to own a share of the Society, becoming a full-fledged Member after six months.

The App is easy to use and contains all Members need in one convenient place, including their card. Central Co-op is committed to creating a sustainable Society for all, including investing in solar panels and green energy self sufficiency, and is encouraging its Members to move away from a physical card to an instantly accessible digital card, which can also be added to Apple and Google wallets for further convenience.

Members can use the App to find their nearest store, funeral home, or florist, and access useful FAQs, along with the Membership Blog to see what Member events are happening across the Society.

The App is also the place to check out Member offers as a part of Central Co-op's Member pricing, discounting over 100 products which have been price locked until 13th June. This includes everyday essentials such as milk and bread to household essentials, pet food, cleaning supplies, and much more. A four-pint bottle of semi-skimmed milk, for example, is reduced from £1.85 to £1.50 for Members, while Fairtrade Gold Roast Dried Coffee is reduced from £3.60 to £3.00.

Membership has been at the heart of co-operatives since the first launched in the 1840s, and the principles of ownership and democracy have remained the same. Central Co-op collaborated with Co-operative Web to develop the App, embracing the sixth co-operative principle of Co-operation Among Co-operatives. By paying £1, Members have a say in how the Society is run, including Board and Membership and Community Council elections, while local causes can also be nominated to receive funding via the Community Dividend Fund.

For further details, head to the Central Co-op website, Facebook, and Twitter. Details on becoming a Member can be found on the Membership site
