Central Co-op opened its doors in Hethersett on the 16th of February, creating 15 jobs for those living in the area and providing locals with a range of food and everyday essentials on their doorstep.

On the day of it’s opening, Central Co-op welcomed customers and Members into the store for the first time, as well as Norwich foodbank and 10 pupils from years four, five and six at Woodside Primary School, who help cut the ribbon to officially declare the store open, accompanied by their Head Teacher, Mrs Mainwaring.

Energy and sustainability have been a consideration throughout the preperation of Hethersett’s new shop, with eco-friendly fridges and solar panels installed on the roof, as well as two electric car charging points to be installed in the near future.

Those living in Hethersett can make the most of the free bike repair and water refill stations, car tyre air pump, In-Post lockers and community notice board. A food bank collection point will also be available in store for those willing to donate while doing their shopping.

The store features the same quality that customers and Members have come to expect from Central Co-op, including the COOK range of delicious frozen homecooked meals, pre-chilled wine and beers, and hot or cold lunch options, as well as Insomnia Coffee and Tango Ice Blast machines.

Community is a big part of being a co-operative, so Central Co-op Members will be invited to nominate local causes to receive a grant of up to £3,000. Local Members will have a great idea of which schools, charities or local businesses could use a helping hand and can apply for grants between £100 to £3,000 every 2 years to help projects that aim to support access to food, health and wellbeing, inclusion and the environment.

Members can experience extra savings at the store via Member pricing on over 100 items, plus over 100 additional items added as part of Central Co-op’s Member offers trial, ranging from everyday essentials including milk, eggs, and bread to cleaning products, toiletries, pet products, and more. This is part of Central Co-op's commitment to bringing value to Members, all of which can be found on the Membership App.
